How It Works
This device applies red and near infrared wavelengths of light, ranging from 620-1000nm, at specific intervals that permeate through the top layer of skin. The body’s cells and mitochondria absorb this intense light energy which stimulates their regenerative abilities throughout the epidermis and other areas of the body. As a result, the skin tissue repairs itself and reduces inflammation, while simultaneously replenishing its collagen & elastin levels. This tightens loose skin, smooths away fine lines and wrinkles, and even improves the appearance of melasma spots, scars, and sun-damaged skin.
Red light therapy (RLT) is a safe, non-invasive treatment that improves numerous
signs of aging skin as well as providing additional healing benefits. It’s a simple procedure—patients lay horizontal in the RLT bed, removing reflective jewelry and clothing to uncover specific areas of the body that need treatment. Protective eyewear is provided for the duration of treatment for the patient’s safety and comfort.
Patients can individualize their treatment to combine different types of wavelengths, set lower or higher levels of intensity, and control the length of each treatment session. At Jiva, we recommend an average of 2-3 sessions per week for an average of10-15 minutes per treatment, depending on your particular health concerns and wellness goals.
What Is Light Therapy?
Light therapy has been used as a therapeutic recovery method as far back as ancient Egypt. Since its origin, this treatment has evolved into numerous restorative applications and can be classified by several names, such as photobiomodulation (PBM) therapy, LED light therapy, intense pulsed light therapy (IPL), or red light therapy (RLT).
In particular, red and near infrared light are the best wavelengths for penetrating into the skin and healing the body without the risk of any harmful electromagnetic fields (EMFs) or UV rays.
